The revised Declaration of Helsinki, on bio-medical research in human subjects, emphasizes that the research is justified only if the population to be studied stand to benefit. Therefore active involvement of twins in service development based on research is a part of our research endeavor. Therefore the Multiple Birth Foundation was formed to organize twins, multiples and their families. Its aims are to raise the awareness of unique challenges and issues faced by the twins, multiples and their families and to initiate service development to cater to their own needs by working with professionals, statutory services and government policy makers.
To fulfill this task the first regional branch of the MBF was formed at Kalutara District in Sri Lanka.
